I Bought a Glowforge Pro and Immediately Wasted $350 on Plastic. Here's My Checklist.
I'll be honest with you. The day my Glowforge Pro arrived, I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. The box was huge. Setting it up felt like a milestone. I connected it, ran the firmware update, and loaded a test file. It was perfect. For about 30 minutes. Then I got ambitious.
I had a client—a local aerospace parts supplier, actually—who needed some quick marking on a few plastic components. They weren't structural parts, just identification tags. I figured, 'Plastic? The Glowforge Pro can handle it. I've seen videos.' That was my first mistake. My second mistake was not asking what kind of plastic.

Is the Glowforge Pro worth it? Absolutely. But it's not a magic wand. It's a tool. And like any powerful tool, you need to understand its limits. A lesson learned the hard way.
